About the piece

This piece was composed on material from a recording of a voice. I had extracted the speech melody using (at the time) sophisticated computer software, and got a rich material, that I wanted to use as themes or such. The result is that it shifts from a stubbornly reappearing melody and a more flowing, organic music.

Another aspect of composing was that I also wanted the piece to somehow reflect the personality of the flutist to whom I wrote the piece.

First performed in Copenhagen, may 2001 by Malin Sommanö (flute).
